Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball has been ruled out of Wednesday’s game at Orlando due to ankle soreness.
Ball sat out the final three quarters of a 97-89 loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Monday in New York.
He missed five games bridging January and February due to a sprained left ankle before playing 36 minutes against the San Antonio Spurs on Friday. He then sat out against the Detroit Pistons on Sunday because of left ankle soreness.
Ball, 23, has averaged 27.3 points, 7.2 assists and 5.1 rebounds in 33 games (all starts) this season, his fifth with the Hornets. The former All-Star is shooting 41.6 percent from the floor and 33.8 percent from 3-point range.
Rookie KJ Simpson likely will be in line to make his third career start in place of Ball.
